Silver and Silk Prayer Rope... Detail Page.
Welcome to Yvette's
a costume site
October 6, 2006:

This page is a gallery of photos I've taken of a  33 bead Paternoster I made for a friend.  Paternoster is Latin for The Lord's Prayer, or Our Father.

Prayer ropes have been used throughout the ages, and were used in the early days of Christianity, way before the Rosary came into use.

This one is made of precious metal clay, fired down to nearly 100% silver, and silk thread, crocheted together.

The beads get warm as you hold them, and travel gracefully through the fingers, offering a tangible aid to meditation and prayer.

On the back I have inscribed my friend's name, along with a Bible verse:
Behold, I have graven you on the palms of my hands
                                                                  Isaiah 49:16
