Mina's Dark Green Gown Construction Page...
Welcome to Yvette's
a costume site
February 20, 2007:
Today I'm opening a construction page for Mina's Dark Green Gown.  Mina is  seen wearing this gown at the end of Coppola's Dracula.

I have already started on the gown indirectly,  in that I've completed the underpinnings.  You can see my work on these in detail here on my Corset Construction page...  Or,  for just a quick peek, see the image below.
I have picked the fabrics, and here are scanned photos of the swatches, a very dark green silk velvet over  a light green silk taffeta.

March 29, 2007:

I changed my mind about the light shaded silk taffeta, but bought the green silk velvet, and some white silk taffeta to dye myself.  Today, I completed a dye test, and will go with this shade.  Here are a couple photos showing the results...

The shade is a tad darker in real life.  I like the coolness in the shade, and the jewel tone.   These are better suited for my skin tones than the yellows in that first pick above.  I am really happy with the results, and will be doing a vat dye in the coming days.

And here it was the gray suit, and Gary Olman's face.

This page and its links reflect my best efforts in costuming.

Projects linking to  their own pages are featured here. Click the images to visit their individual pages.

Welcome to Yvette's
Mina's Dark Green Gown
Construction Page
As of March 2013, Nearly ten years ago I set out to teach myself to sew so that I could create inspired costumes such as those featured on my site.

I created this site  to share what I've done. It launched August 18, 2004, and has been growing ever-since.

In addition to costume construction pages, there are pages featuring portraits of the costumes being worn.

Costuming is a hobby I love documenting, but I do not do commissions, nor do I sell patterns.

Please visit where your interests lead you, and enjoy.
